Culinary Creativity Shines at Our Biggest Morning Tea
Yamaha Motor Australia staff put their culinary skills to the test, throwing their support – and appetites - behind cancer research in Australia for the 2024 Biggest Morning Tea event.
The generous staff at Yamaha Motor Australia’s head office in Wetherill Park raised much-needed funds for the cause by offering a gold coin donation to sample the fantastic variety of homemade sweet and savoury treats.
The Service team took to the barbecue, roasting sides of beef, which had been in preparation since the early hours. Carved and served on extra-large fresh bread rolls covered with lashings of butter, the team tucked into a delicious hot lunch.
The interdepartmental competition between Sales & Marketing and Franchising saw a few souls burn the midnight oil to deliver the ultimate morning tea yummies. The highlights were homemade Portuguese Tarts, a Nutella cheesecake, and the Croatian sweet Oblatne.
The Parts and Accessories | Ficeda crew raved about its Bicho Bicho (Filipino doughnuts), while sweetness overload was delivered with a classic take on Rocky Road that featured Tim Tams, Freckles, and Raspberry Jelly lollies. An old family recipe, Philadelphia Cream Cheese Slice, also appeared. Rumour has it that each slice contained 10,000 calories.
The IT team once again hit a Biggest Morning Tea home run with a delicious selection of pastries and sweets, including Lady Fingers, a filo pastry filled with sweet cream cheese and a sprinkling of rose water, and South African Koeksisters. The origins of this culinary, cultural icon are attributed to two recipes brought to South Africa by Dutch settlers in 1652: doughnuts and sweet bowtie-shaped thingies made from pasta dough. The result is Koeksisters, which translates to Cake Sisters.
The Yamaha Financial Services’ morning tea also had a sweet theme. The Mars Bar slice, made from 40 small Mars Bars, was popular, as was the citrus slice, made on a biscuit base with condensed milk infused with orange and lemon zest and icing made using orange juice instead of water.
The YMA warehouse is a melting pot of cultural diversity, making it the best place to sample fantastic international treats. Homemade savoury delights were as popular as the sweet treats. Highlights this year included chicken spring rolls classic fried rice, devilled eggs, vegetarian spring rolls and Samosa, Sago – an Indian vegetarian dish, and spinach and cheese rolls.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the year’s event and helped make a valuable contribution to cancer research.
